Ceramicist Antonía Berg and glass artist Anders Vange aim to create a series of large-scale glass and earth sculptures to be placed both indoors and outdoors. The sculptures will be made from recycled glass, Icelandic and Greenlandic earth materials, embedded in the glass, with raw materials also surrounding the sculptures. Both the indoor and outdoor sculptures will be influenced by their environment in some way, altering their appearance throughout the exhibition. Light will be projected from the base of the sculptures, allowing the diverse forms and materials inside them to be visible. The outdoor pieces will weather over time, with loose materials washing away and accumulating at the base of the sculptures. The indoor works will be varied, and specific conditions will be created to influence the loose materials on the sculptures. They plan to collaborate on more projects in the future, making this the first of many creations. Vikram Pradhan will document the process, producing a short video piece, including the earth materials, to invite viewers into the process, showcasing the effects of nature and the curiosity surrounding Icelandic earth materials.
